Dr Jan Mojsa

Tutor Levels 4 & 5

Jan MojsaI originally trained as a drama teacher and spent a number of years working with young people. In 1986 I began my counsellor training and completed a Masters degree in Counselling and Pastoral Care. I have since worked in both Further and Higher Education delivering counsellor training courses and training within health and social care.

I completed my psychotherapy training with the Centre for Transpersonal Psychology (CTP). This enabled me to draw together the threads of work that are now central to my practice – the confluence of Jungian analytical psychology with the practices and understandings of Buddhist and other contemplative traditions such as Gendlin’s Focusing and mindfulness meditation practices. Drawing on a range of perspectives studied throughout the years my work may also be described as integrative and relational.

In 2007 I was awarded a grant from the Lloyd Symington Foundation to study with Judith Cornell in developing mandala work for people living with cancer and other life threatening illnesses.

I care deeply about the training of counsellors and psychotherapists. Between 2004 and 2008 I was Director of Curriculum Development at CTP and sat on the Council of Management as Co-Chair, holding the tension of the organisation as it transitioned paradigms. For me, this was a soul making time. I have also served as Vice Chair of the UKCP Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy College and I currently sit on the Research and Training Standards Committees.

I am currently a Senior Tutor at BCPC (the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I completed my Doctorate at Bournemouth University, with work that focuses on nonduality, spirituality and psychotherapy. Working from a qualitative perspective, I have also worked on other research projects particularly around HIV.

I am inspired by nature and the outdoors and have an interest in eco psychology. I try to be mindful of Buddhist practice and gain a huge amount from discovering the humorous absurdities that life conjures up! More recently, I have begun studying with Roshi Joan Halifax at Upaya Zen Centre as part of the Zen Chaplaincy Programme. Upaya is part of the Zen Peacemaker Order.
